Janua – Witch museum
About
Janua - Museo delle Streghe in Benevento (Palazzo Paolo V) is a permanent multimedia museum (opened 2017–2019) dedicated to local witchcraft lore, especially the Janare, the legendary witches of Benevento. Through artifacts, ex-voto, manuscripts, ritual tools, and interactive installations (including a walnut‑tree video room), the museum explores folk magic, healing customs, feminine spirituality, rites of passage and myth entwined with the region’s witch‑trial history.
